Shirk Music Studio
Welcome to the website for Amy Shirk and the Shirk Music Studio! I'm so excited to share the joy of music with my students. With more than 30 years experience, I teach lessons primarily in piano and organ. Other lessons include harpsichord, music theory and preparation for the AP Music Theory exam, and beginning through intermediate woodwinds (clarinet, saxophone, flute, oboe).
As a certified Braille transcriber, I also offer music lessons using literary Braille and music Braille for those students who require it.
Piano lessons are for any student aged 4 and up. I've completed several years of Suzuki training, and lessons are available in the Suzuki method, in traditional methods, or, most often, in a hybrid fashion, incorporating the necessary components of each approach that works the best with each student. Traditional methods used include Piano Safari, Piano Adventures, Alfred's Premier Piano Course, and many, many others.
Lessons are in my home studio, located near Spotsylvania Courthouse. 30, 45, and 60 minute lessons are available. I always offer the first THREE lessons at no charge. I believe it takes at least that long for us to get to know each other, ask questions, understand what is expected, and make sure we are a good fit for each other.
