Shirk Music Studio

As a member of RMS, NGPT, and VFMC, my students are eligible to participate in several festivals and competitions each year, including:

Jazz Festival (UMW, mid to late November)
Manassas Junior Festival (Manassas Baptist Church, end of February)
Sonata/Sonatina Festival (UMW, early March)
Scholarship Competition (usually early April)
National Piano Guild Auditions (UMW, usually early or mid May)
Gold Cup Recital, Boys Only Recital, The More The Merrier Recital, all sponsored by RMS
several studio recitals (3-4 each year)

None of these events are required of any student! However, I highly encourage each student, when ready, to choose to perform in at least one or two events each year. We get good at performing by performing! And many of these events have incentives or awards for the students, such as certificates, pins, ribbons, or trophies. Students will never be allowed to perform if not fully prepared, so there should never be a concern of a negative experience at a festival or performance.
